ABOUT THE BOOK

The importance of ecology cannot be disputed. The degradation of our environment is linked to continuing problems of pollution, loss of biodiversity, soild waste disposal, issues related to economic productivity, and national as well as ecological security. The increasing levels of global warming, the depletion of the ozone layer and a serious loss of biodiversity have also made everyone aware of the growing environmental concerns. It is feared that a large proportion of life on earth may get wiped out in the near future. Recognizing this, the chapters in this volume are written on various aspects of applied ecology.

The present book entitled ‘Applied Ecology’ comprises 30 chapters By well known experts and research workers in the various aspects of ecology. With its application oriented and interdisciplinary approach, I hope that the students, teachers, researchers, scientists, policy makers and environmental lawyers will find this volume much more useful.
